Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 24, 2026

Abstap is a public statistics site. There are no accounts and no sign-ups. We collect as little as possible, and what we do collect exists to understand how the site is used.

The short version

  • No accounts, no logins, no passwords. We never ask you to register.
  • We use privacy-respecting analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful.
  • We do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising trackers.
  • The only personal information we ever hold is what you choose to put in an email to us.

Information we collect

Because there is no account system, we do not knowingly collect names, email addresses, or payment details from ordinary browsing. We collect two kinds of information:

  • Usage and device data. Through our analytics provider we record events such as pages viewed, links clicked, the referring site, and general device and browser type. An approximate location (country or region) may be inferred from your IP address. We configure analytics to treat visitors as anonymous: we do not attach your identity to this data.
  • Information you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to handle your request.

Cookies and local storage

Abstap uses a small number of cookies and similar browser storage for analytics, so we can tell repeat visits apart from new ones and measure how features are used. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will continue to work normally.

Third-party services

We rely on a few service providers to run the site. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • PostHog provides our product analytics. PostHog privacy policy.
  • Vercel hosts and serves the site and may process standard server logs, including IP addresses, to deliver pages and guard against abuse. Vercel privacy policy.

The baseball statistics on Abstap come from the public MLB Stats API and describe games, not site visitors. See our methodology for how that data is sourced.

How we use information

We use the limited data we collect to operate and improve Abstap: to understand which pages and features are useful, to diagnose problems, to keep the site secure, and to respond to messages you send us. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it except as needed for the service providers above to perform their functions.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. Because we do not maintain accounts and treat analytics data as anonymous, we usually hold little or nothing tied to an individual. You can:

  • Block or clear cookies in your browser, or enable a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
  • Email us at press@abstap.com with a privacy request, and we will do our best to honor it.

Children

Abstap is a general-audience sports statistics site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Abstap after a change means you accept the updated policy.
